If the blog prompt had been about Burl Wood or a burl of wood it would have seemed easy. Instead this week’s theme is burlywood, the colour. Which I had to look up only to find out it’s a boring beige really. Ugh but I’ve decided to rise to the challenge.
For one thing, right after I looked it up, I was on Instagram and there I saw a photo of some art work in progress. This is by a truly lovely local woman who I’ve known since she was just starting out in her art career. I feel very fortunate to have 4 of her pictures in our house. She has a website that can be found here at NickiAultStudio and I encourage you to check out the link. She loves the prairie skies as much as I do. The difference is she can capture it! I can’t wait to see what Nicki’s final product on these two. The skies are already amazing and they only feature the burlywood colour!
Once I had her permission to use the photo I sent searching for other burlywood photos in my media files. Then I turned to Canva and created a grid of them that ties in to my Thursday’s Crossroads photo that I took for my Wednesday daily photo blog over at 3six5snap.wordpress.com/. That’s a complex photo follow but there you have it.
Two photos that fell into place. Then the text did. Now perhaps I can also be proactive and get it up for a scheduled post, which strangely enough is something I have never done before.

Strangely enough I’ve managed to keep it simple and straightforward this week. Not at all like my personal life. Let’s just run on the assumption that I was inspired (my word of the year).
I’ve linked to secondwindleisure.com which is Terri’s site. She is the regular host of #Sundaystills and kudos to her for keeping it going. The number of comments and links she works through are amazing!

An interesting and beautiful post, Bernie. First time I have heard of “burlywood.” You bring back fond memories of visiting the Prairies and the Prairie skies. It is interesting how posts can fall into place, yet life can be in disarray. Thank you for sharing.

Erica, thank you for the lovely compliment about the post. I will take all the positives I can get right now that’s for sure. I love the prairie sky so much – it’s my “happy place”. That photo of the paintings – perfect colour for the post – but can’t wait to see the finished pieces. Thanks for stopping in.

I have told you before how you have a gift with words, Bernie. I am delayed in my reading because of many personal things around here. I am happy I visited you! ❤️

I get the personal things. Life’s a bit topsy turvy for me right now as well which means I am holding on to this positive space tightly as it’s a happy place for me. I’m also very behind in my reading and commenting. Take care and thanks again for such a lovely comment.

Hi, Bernie – I love your take on ‘burlywood’. I found this a very difficult challenge indeed (my contribution is on Instagram, and in Terri’s comments). Thank you also for the link to Nicki’s studio. I’ve just taken a tour and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Nicki just rocks the big sky feeling and the colours. I thought it would be a hard challenge but all of a sudden it seemed easy. As I said to Terry maybe because I’ve hit a few curve balls here at home it was a nice “escape” and I poured time into it although it truly came together easily and I actually did the scheduled publish which I was pleased about. Thanks for loving my take and for taking the time to tell me that in the middle of your company week. Take care. Bernie

First of all thanks for your kind words, Bernie! Probably why I need a wee break, LOL! You found plenty of great “boring beige” pics for the challenge! Always fun to be challenged, right (except not at home…) Thanks for your continuing support of SS!
