It all fell together somehow seamlessly. At this moment I am not sure how but I will take it.
Last minute house sitter lined up and haircuts done. Garden harvesting completed and hay delivery partially organized. Last minute additions to the suitcase (carry on only – we are flying through Toronto’s Pearson Airport after all and aren’t taking chances) and the West Jet app uploaded. A couple of books in the backpack and a couple on Libby.
While Covid hasn’t gone anywhere we are, masks on in airports and planes. Once we hit the destination chances are good that for the most part we won’t need them. But I brought a big stash just to be on the safe side.
The hands on teaching session for the first year med students meant that fall was out for travel. This spring I resigned to make time for this and other things! We aren’t getting any younger as the saying goes and these are good travel years for us.
We were hard pressed to remember when we flew last but eventually came to the conclusion it was England and Scotland in May 2019. The theme of that trip became These boots. Pretty certain that the recurring “item” now will be bikes.
So today we are on our way to Prince Edward Island. Long on the bucket list it’s finally happening! Yes the exclamation mark was necessary. Canada’s smallest province, full of small rural charm and winding red dirt roads, will be explored from tip to wing to tip. Self guided biking means we have destinations and hotels booked but our route is at our discretion. Nice day might mean an extra hour at a beach or perhaps an icky day will mean we linger in a museum or a pub until the weather breaks.
Which means, most likely, daily blogging. I used to keep a detailed diary of our trips decades ago and this has replaced it. It’s great to have photos and thoughts together. It might fill up your reader or your email and so feel free to chose whether you “travel along” with us. Just don’t expect to see a different outfit everyday — I have 2 biking shirts and 1 outer biking short (2 inner) so it’s going to be repetitive clothes for daytime pictures. If you prefer the photo version only of the trip I will do 10 pictures per day on Instagram. How I will narrow it down to 10 I have no idea but’s it’s a good thing there is a limit.
Back from an evening on the town with stellar fish and chips, live music on Victoria Row and having inhaled long and deep the smell of the ocean. I’ve kind of zero idea what time it is anywhere right now nor my sense of direction but all things in due time.

Thanks Janis. I am already wondering how to condense my photos on Day 1!! Charlottetown is a lovely old historic city and I love old houses!
