What’s on Friday’s plate?

Covid played havoc with our family Friday night pizza time.  Then once the worst of Covid was over my other half started golfing on Friday afternoons.  The grandchildren, who’ve been spending every Friday night with us, eat early and he gets home late so pizza hasn’t been on the menu much. But we do still eat on Friday nights…

So here’s a round up of child friendly summer features. An open fire and hot dogs are always a sure fire win. Problem is sometimes it’s too windy for a fire. Next favourite meal is a good one for children to learn how to make with the added bonus of they love it!

Mac and cauliflower cheese. These two eat a lot of variety in their veggies. If you look close you can see raw purple cabbage that we added as the raw veg. They also devour Caesar salad so that’s often on the menu as well. We grill up some of the chicken their Momma raised and add garlic toast and voila.

All around super blessed. Loads of great local food options, a wonderful kitchen, a helpful 5 year old and a place to write about it all. Winner winner chicken dinner!

What’s your favourite Friday night go to meal?

A quick #fencepostfriday picture because it’s just so wonderful.

I have had a love of the written word for my entire life. It's no surprise that eventually I found a platform where I could write. It's random; sometimes funny, occasionally sad, maybe even at times from anger and I lean towards creative photography and hands on crafts. I have a few blogs that high light these interests.

    1. I hope someday to once again be Friday night pizza people! As to the kids cauliflower Mac and cheese or fish tacos with Pico De Gallo number one choices! But….we might also let them have ice cream cones or a brownie for dessert but shhhh don’t tell Momma.

  1. Good to get them eating their veggies young, Bernie. Mexican makes a good Friday night meal for us, tacos, quesadillas or good old nachos. Happy Saturday. Allan

    1. The credit mostly goes to Momma but they have a good variety of stuff they eat. Funny you should mention Mexican as they love love love fish tacos and quesadilla’s with home made salsa sauce. We haven’t had nachos for a while. Good idea! Thanks for “eating” along. Bernie

    1. As I said to Allan Momma deserves most of the credit. But we also introduce them to new and interesting ones. I just love that at 5 she wants to learn to cook. She made the cheese sauce for the Mac and cheese.
