Is it just me?

Is it just me? Is it just my orb? Is it my internet? Is it just my device? Or the universe telling me something +/- am I listening?

An old photo in my media file

I am, once again, having Word Press issues. Non bloggers may just want to stop reading now, perhaps with an eye roll.

I can not upload a new picture on any of my three sites. This seems to be universal across the 3 devices; laptop, home computer and cell phone.  I’ve reached out to the happiness engineers on Word Press and gone through the FAQ’s. It’s very weird that it happened on all 3 of my blog sites at the same time.

A new photo – a few setting changes

I’ve changed the image size. Zero idea why I would need to do that from yesterday to today. It makes no sense at all to me. Will this change work across sites and devices? We shall see. Ugh technology.

I’m all for re using photos when I can as it saves space. Which is what I was originally going to do a blog post about – is there an easy way to find a photo from say 2013? I wanted a specific one for my Remembrance Day post and it took eons of scrolling to get back that far. Is there any easier way? Any bloggers with loads of photos – how do you find an old one in media that you are looking for?

I’m trying to decrease my screen time (overall) but today I’ve read a ton of blogs, left lots of comments, written and edited posts and fought with photos uploading.

So if anyone has any techie ideas I am all for hearing them, please and thanks. Also wondering if the picture from today will show up differently in the reader than previous ones as I did change settings. Happy blogging everyone (lol).

I have had a love of the written word for my entire life. It's no surprise that eventually I found a platform where I could write. It's random; sometimes funny, occasionally sad, maybe even at times from anger and I lean towards creative photography and hands on crafts. I have a few blogs that high light these interests.

  1. I’m not sure if it’s the same thing but I had trouble adding photos awhile ago (I got an error message about not being authorized or something like that). Anyway, The HE suggested clearing my cache, but I found that by just changing my browser (from Microsoft Edge to Chrome) it worked. No idea why.

    1. Ah yes I also lacked clearance? Really it’s my site so if I had clearance yesterday you’d think I would have it today! I seem to be doing ok loading the photos into the media file and then putting them into the post. Worked on 2 of my 3 sites so far today. But thanks for the suggestion. Of course on my phone it’s the app so not sure unless something outdated or ….??? Thanks for the support Janis. Stay safe.

  2. No techie solutions here, Bernie. I too have to scroll back endlessly, just to reuse a photo. Most times, I give up and just reload from one of my drives I always downsize my photos now. When I used to post full size, it could take a long time to download and sometimes the download would drop due to line speed or # of photos. But, lately, no photo issues. Hope you will let us know what you find out from WP. Fingers crossed you find a solution. Allan

    1. Found your comment in Spam this morning? Really? So weird hey. Yes the reusing photos is such a pain in the neck but because I try to keep my site going onward with my coffee money I do try to reuse photos. I have my initial reply from the Happiness Engineer at WP so will keep you posted. Thanks for commenting and engaging. Stay safe. Bernie

  3. Hi, Bernie – What a drag! I totally know how this feels. When I was self-hosted, WP found new and creative ways to frustrate me — on a regular basis. WP.com has been much kinder to me (she says with fingers crossed). Sadly, I don’t have any answers to your technology questions. But I can say, that your photos on this post look great on my computer and from my phone!
