Above and Beyond

We made a beehive straight to one of our favourite Fernie spots. It’s become our routine, while out here, to stop for a

Mayan hot chocolate post skiing pre beer time. Imagine our dismay when we saw the 12 to 4 sign at 4:25. Normally open to 5:30 so we were surprised and disappointed. We were standing in front of the door texting our local friends about the change of plans when… Yes James opened the door and asked if we’d like a hot chocolate to go.

Is that service or what? He recognized us from our yearly trips and who our local friends are. His wife, the chocolatier, was busy in the back getting ready for Valentine’s Day and wasn’t quite ready to go. He looked up, saw us and was happy to have a chat while we got our chocolate fix. Said he couldn’t let us go away so sad looking.

So if you are ever in Fernie go to the Bean Pod. Read about their interesting family story and how they landed here making chocolates. Have a hot chocolate as they are divine, try a freshly made chocolate or take a chocolate bar to go. In the summer have a gelato as they are deadly good. You won’t be sorry. Tell James I sent you!

I have had a love of the written word for my entire life. It's no surprise that eventually I found a platform where I could write. It's random; sometimes funny, occasionally sad, maybe even at times from anger and I lean towards creative photography and hands on crafts. I have a few blogs that high light these interests.
