The snow has disappeared and the sun is out. Fall has resumed and amazingly enough
a lot of the trees have retained their leaves. Which makes me happy as I love fall colours. Someday I hope I can do painting justice to the picture below.
Which meant I was happy at watercolour class last night when it was tree week with fall colours. The techniques were fun and I was pleased with how part one of mine turned out. Maybe not so much the sky but the bushes and trees in the forefront. Still need to work on the evergreen trees but from a galloping horse they would look great. I used that expression last night, which I learnt in the quilting world, to general amusement.
One of the four amigos was missing paint class and seems this is a two part painting I decided to practice and catch M up at the same time. So this am, while enjoying blue skies, sunshine and the fall leaves outside my attic windows I did a second painting. The instructions were fresh in my mind and the colour palette done. I ended up with a totally different colour of fall in those bushes but the background and the clouds were an improvement. Still working on my evergreens – it seems so easy when those with more experience do it. Hence the practise time.
More fall, both on paper and in real life, I hope.

Oh Bernie, those look so great. Nicely done.

See – the 2nd picture was easier, wasn’t it? I would so make your first purple sky a mountain or foothill range. Hills in the distance are always a bit purple to me ……….. it can give you depth! I love your enthusiasm in class – and you are doing really well for only 3 classes! Excellent job, grasshopper!
