Happenstance

By happenstance, or sheer dumb luck, we managed to be totally in the right place at exactly the

perfect time.

We stopped because of the engineering significance of the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The engineer dryly noted that before Harry Potter very few tourists probably stopped. For you see, the viaduct is found in several films from the Harry Potter movies. There were hordes of people, yes really, waiting for the local steam train to run by at 11:00.

We arrived at 10:50 only because we had time to stop before our 12:40 ferry to the Isle of Skye. That’s the thing about not planning to the 9th degree; sometimes you miss stuff and sometimes you don’t! Pure happenchance.

It was slightly annoying to said engineer that some people hung around and he had to wait for them to remove themselves from his view and photos of this amazing engineering feat. Pretty cool that they started building it back in 1897 and opened in 1901. We stuck around long enough to see a current Scotland rail train use it going the other way.

(JF) this post is for you, probably as close as I’ll get to Hogwarts this visit! Happenstance or perhaps just my Griffindor luck to see this?

I have had a love of the written word for my entire life. It's no surprise that eventually I found a platform where I could write. It's random; sometimes funny, occasionally sad, maybe even at times from anger and I lean towards creative photography and hands on crafts. I have a few blogs that high light these interests.
