Creative Tradition

It feels so good to block book some creative time and then be inspired by the friends and fabric.

The tradition is that when my other half is in Vegas for a soccer tournament the girls gather here and have a fun weekend. This year the injured player had to stay home hurting on the couch but I didn’t cancel my day of fun and friends. I did get my fitness in running up and down four flights of stairs providing him with some basic nursing care.

I have no UFO’s (unfinished objects aka quilts) and was feeling uninspired. I wanted something quick, easy and fulfilling. So I created a random pattern and size table runner and then played with my machine to quilt it. It’s not exactly as I planned but I’m pretty sure the recipient is going to love it.

Then I needed to make my niece her baby gift and she’s in hospital awaiting the “timbits” (her words not mine) early arrival. I had promised a car seat cover in primary colours so knew that his needed to be next. That gift would be finished but I lacked Velcro.

Meanwhile my friends were stitching away. One finished the hand binding on an adorable baby quilt while the other completed a top for a ragged flannel quilt.

Of course the entire time we sewed we also talked. I’m not sure which was most therapeutic but all in all it was a fabulous few hours upstairs in one of my favourite spaces. I even got some free OCD out of it because if a certain someone gets bored they move along to something else and that happened to be my scraps. But now I need her to come back because you can see she didn’t finish! Bernie
