Bloody Dogs

It’s quite ironic that a year ago today I posted a blog called In the Dog House and today, at the end of my walk, I left some cranky words about dogs and their activities during the walk in my comments section.

I was on track for a fast 5 km before her shenanigans
The young one, Lucky, went walk about early after 3 white tail deer. He came back for a few minutes before disappearing up the ravine. I wasn’t too concerned as that was the direction I was going as well but I never saw him again until about 15 minutes after I got home. I yelled for him and whistled but something was obviously was more important than that. He’s young enough and fast enough that we don’t overly worry if he does go AWOL for a while.

This was were Lucky took off after the deer

The old dog, Breeze, is usually a good walking companion. She’s slowing down a bit and is deaf as a doorknob so I try not to walk on the road with her. She occasionally seperates from me a bit and is getting blind enough that it can be an issue for her to see me.

Breeze was still keeping me company out here in the open

TODAY, it turns out that the issue was that she smelt something (a whole deer carcus) and would NOT come. See that squiggly line on the left of my walk? I kept having to go through the bush to get her attention and then get her to come. I would get her part way across the thicket in the ravine and she would go bushwaking back over there. So then I’d have to traipse through the bush AGAIN. On the fourth attempt I drove her north and returned through the north pasture instead of going through the ravine to the south trail past the paddock. I spent 15 minutes raising my voice and my blood pressure because I could not leave her out there as that just isn’t safe at her age.

The last I saw of the sunset because in 2 mins I spent the rest of the daylight in the bush.

So a year ago they were annoying me and today for a while they were frustrating me but I wouldn’t change that we have them in our life. They provide, usually, more joy than frustration and they keep me walking. Today’s beauty was the sunset though and not the dogs!

I have had a love of the written word for my entire life. It's no surprise that eventually I found a platform where I could write. It's random; sometimes funny, occasionally sad, maybe even at times from anger and I lean towards creative photography and hands on crafts. I have a few blogs that high light these interests.
