I can’t give you the long story in short version. You’ll have to settle in for the lengthy version to get the full impact of why someone wrote on the basement floor last night. Continue reading “30 + 5 and counting”→
It was miraculous — two rare events colliding within seconds of each other. This created such space for much joy when the day was so young.
I woke up 2 minutes before my alarm and didn’t hit snooze. Maybe not a miracle to some but it is too me. It’s not like I went to bed at 9 pm so was fully rested by 0605. Nope it was the usual 11:30 oh crap it’s late in better get to bed kind of night. So waking up before the alarm is something that happens so rarely I can hardly remember from one occasion to another. Of course, at my age and with my memory, I can’t seem to recall if we’ve already boughten our daughter her birthday gift.
The second event that collided with the first happens more often but I haven’t seen it for over a week. Clear sky people!! Clear sky. A faint pink colour in the east. Oh happy day that there will be sunshine!! I try not to use too many exclamation marks but it’s been a dark cloudy week. I could care less that we have early snow but I do care a lot about sunshine. Of course I’ll be in the dungeon by the time it rises but it is going to happen so I know by break time i’ll be feasting my eyes on sunlight.
I’ve been busy, in my head, trying on new titles as soon it’s time for a new role in my life. Although this role doesn’t just affect me.
It’s comes with a great deal of excitement this new journey of ours but we have some time to prepare for it.
Our daughter and husband are expecting their first child; a future lead line star. A little girl who will grow up immersed in hockey, horses and being the apple in her parents eye.
She will be the icing on the cake for us and our hearts will burst with pride at everything she does. We are so blessed to live close and have a goodrelationship with her parents so we know that our place in her life will include sleepovers, play dates and grandma and grandpa rules — like you have to kiss me or hug me for the next story!
I’m already embarking on a small sewing spree for the nursery and I’m pretty darn excited about that. Our daughter has an amazing decorative style so there will be lots of projects for both Nan and ?? Poppa?? Gran and Gramps?
Whatever the word we’re going to love the job description!
Occasionally “they” get it right and whether or not that makes us happy depends on several factors. If it’s more of a good thing we’re all smiles but if it’s at the other end of the spectrum the grumpies appear.
Life as a meteorologist can’t be an easy one that’s for sure. This week they nailed our forecast which has made for some ugliness. The roads have been a challenge for sure and even walking becomes a lot more work and way muckier (although my phone seems to think that isn’t a word). My least favourite is the howling endless wind; it has reduced visibility for 3 days now. I’d also like to blame it for a 3 day headache but perhaps it’s just a coincidence.
There is beauty behind it all but you have to look really really hard. I forced myself out the door for a walk and on the way back I grabbed a few good photos. They would have been much more colourful if the sun was shining but we can’t control the weather. Whining about it is a waste of time in my opinion. Much better to accept it and make the best of it.
