YXE Tonight

Too often we ignore the back yard activities and events in favour of staying home and doing stuff. Not tonight thought as this event seems to speak our language.

That’s liquid gold — beer  — 35 different kinds to be exact. Not that we will have a chance to try all of them but it seemed like a great concept to us. Add to that local food trucks which are pretty new here in YXE and it seems like a win win. It’s also down on the river bank which is always a great place to spend some time. The money raised from the entry fee goes to support cystic fibrosis research so even that is a win.

The down side is that we had to go home and feed the dogs and water some plants who were a bit heat exhausted. We are meeting friends there and they had soccer so we are getting a late start. So it turns out we had to drink quickly to get through a lot of the beer but the boys were up to the challenge.

It’s amazing that in 6 years the beer scene has changed so much here in Saskatchewan. For Ron’s 50th birthday I bought him 50 beer which was a challenge. There were a few 4 packs and a 6 pack of “the” local brewery beer. Now, almost 7 years later, you can buy an amazing selection of local craft beer. In reusable containers to boot. Ron is already looking forward to his 60th birthday present.

It was interesting tonight to note the marketing approaches and the success that we could see via line ups. The winning booth, from my perspective, was Black Bridge Brewery out of Swift Current. Great PR, a line up all night and great local beer.

The  problem, from the guys perspective, was that it ended too early because liquor laws are a bit dated here. Which meant they decided we should go bar hopping which translated into a late late night.  We closed the night off listening to an up and coming band called The Young Benjamins at Amigo’s. The down side it was so late that my posting it yesterday wasn’t even possible so the name is a bit of a misnomer. Who knew?? I started writing it at 7:30 on the way to the city and thought we would be home by 11:00. NOT!

I have had a love of the written word for my entire life. It's no surprise that eventually I found a platform where I could write. It's random; sometimes funny, occasionally sad, maybe even at times from anger and I lean towards creative photography and hands on crafts. I have a few blogs that high light these interests.
