Musical Interlude

It was a rare evening for me
full of music and laughter. I’ve really relaxed and enjoyed female friendship time on our winter weekend at the lake. This included, as it always does when women are together, excellent quality food and some liquid refreshments. We combined fresh air and exercise despite the -25 temperature. The sun shone all day on the lake so the setting was magnificent.

But the best part was the guitar player and the songs she serenaded us with while we made supper.

Following our feast we sang and laughed and sang and sang. We sang so much that my throat is sore but I don’t regret one single verse. We did her whole songbook which has several eras of songs. We sang a song that our mothers taught us “King of the Road”. We looked up artists like Buddy Holly and histories of songs like American Pie. It was an absolute treasure of an evening.

I am so blessed to have these wonderful opportunities in my life plus the support of an incredible husband.
